The Next Generation in Lame Op-Ed Cliches

Journalistic Cliche of the Year equals Journalistic Cliche of 2004

Andrew Sullivan's recent column in the Times is a pretty clear indication of the direction in which writers and commenters will be heading with their cliches.

Yeah, listening to your iPod in the city is hip, but you know what's ultra-hip? NOT listening to your iPod and hearing the white noise of city life, like we used to do in 2002. He's already lamenting the loss of something that isn't gone.

"There’s a world out there. And it has a soundtrack all its own." That's why you bought your iPod in the 1st place, jackass, to get away from the loud obnoxious world.

When only a few of us had iPods, we could unplug and hear the iPod-less. Now that everyone has one, we no longer have that luxury. Lame.

There is no pleasing these people.
